Zagorje is a region in Croatia that is famous for the production of outstanding Wine.
KRAPINA
Krapina became famous for the findings of more than 80 Neanderthals, that were discovered in 1899 by the paleontologist Prof. Dragutin Gorjanović Kramberger.
The newly opened and technically superb museum is one of the most beautiful in Croatia.
KUMROVEC
After Krapina we head to Kumrovec, the birthplace of Josip Broz Tito, the former president of Yugoslavia. The Ethno Museum shows 25 residential houses that represent the life and labour of the people in Zagorje, fromthe 19th into the 20th Century. The tradition is represented as we take a stroll walk to the birth house of Tito.
The old village in Kumrovec is a unique Ethnic museum in the open. It presents the architecture, work and the way of life of the inhabitants of ‘’Hrvatsko Zagorje’’ from the transition into the 20th Century. The residential houses, which have been completely restored, transfer us to the time of the industrial revolution.
The birth house of Josip Broz Tito can also be found there, as well as the biographical and ethnographical exhibition.
After the visit (lunch in the typical Zagorje fashion – very rich, with a lot of wine) we go back to ‘’Terme Tuhelj’’, where You can enjoy the largest wellness center of Croatia.
